NO GOOD: Pat and Lee Maher of Braidwood believe paid parking does more harm than good.Eurobodalla Shire Council will lift its paid parking charges to $1.20 in the Batemans Bay CBD from June 30.
That’s a 10 cent increase which a council spokeswoman says is in line with the consumer price index (CPI) rounded up to the nearest 10 cents.
The CPI rose 3.3 per cent in the March quarter, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
The spokeswoman said the extra funds would be used “to care for Batemans Bay foreshore and CBD”.
When asked if this increase was in line with other local government areas in the region she said: “You will need to speak to them to see if this is the case, we’re not in the position to comment”.
The Bay Post/Moruya Examiner understands that the Shoalhaven City and Bega Valley Shire councils don’t have paid parking.
