TESSA’S TALE: Mossy Point filmmaker Tessa Muskett with cast members from her film Failures and Unknowns – Jimmy Roe, Daniel Kostiainen, Emily Freestone and Brett Muskett and cameraman Julian Tynan (second from right). Two weeks of intense filming wrapped up at Broulee this week when Mossy Point’s Tessa Muskett finished shooting her feature film Failures and Unknowns.
More than 30 people, almost all of them from the Eurobodalla, have been working long days and nights for no pay to finish the film, which is a contemporary
science fiction story set in a totalitarian society.
It has been shot at different locations around the Eurobodalla including Mossy Point, Surf Beach, Broulee and Moruya with a rather modest budget of zero dollars and cents.
Ms Muskett said the actors and Eurobodalla residents and businesses had been very generous with their time and effort.
“The support and interest from the community has been overwhelming,” she said.
“We have been using so many power points and filming in so may different locations.
“Every man and his dog has been asking us what we are doing.”
Curious eyebrows were raised when the crew was filming scenes in locations like takeway shops and golf courses.
Ms Muskett wrote the script herself and employed former Victorian cameraman Julian Tynan for the filming.
Mr Tynan enjoyed shooting around the Eurobodalla.
“This is a picturesque area and the film highlights it,” he said.
Some of the cast have experience from Bay Theatre Players, but for others it has been their first time acting.
“I hadn’t acted before and it’s harder than it looks,” cast member Daniel Kostiainen said.
“It is definitely a challenge.”
Now that filming has wrapped up, post-production will begin, and the finishing touches on the movie will be made in June, in time for it to be entered in
the Sydney Underground Film Festival.
It will screen in Batemans Bay at venues to be announced in early July.
