MOYA Simons, one of Australia’s leading children’s authors was in Bega last Friday giving workshops to the zone finalists in the Nestle Write Around Australia competition.
Those at the workshop were Karen D’Sousa, Alyssa Henderson, Harriet Lee, Jasmin Gordon, Katelyn Kimmer, Aurora Bruce, Ele Mason-Sakkas, Emilie Adlide, Tom Randall and Liam Whittaker.
They came from as far away as Mallacoota and Gundaroo to meet Moya Simons and receive advice from her on writing.
She said she loves inspiring curiosity and enthusiasm for creative efforts.
The children were given the opportunity to polish and resubmit their stories for the final judging from which the zone, State and national winners would be selected.
They also received a copy of “Remember Me” by Moya Simons, a backpack filled with Nestle goods and a certificate.
The two zone winners will receive a collection of Australian books for themselves and a collection for their school library, each valued at $500.
