STAR STRUCK: Riley Van Dyk, Lockie Armstrong, Jeremy Harding and Angus Armstrong at the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre in Albury last week.THREE under-12 Batemans Bay Basketball players attended the Great Murray River Basketball Jamboree at the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre in Albury last week.
Riley Van Dyk, Lockie Armstrong and Jeremy Harding were selected at the NSW Jamboree in July to attend the four-day event.
The best 11-year-old players from Country Victoria, Country NSW, the ACT and New Zealand were pitted against each other during a series of games and training drills.
But it wasn’t all about the serious stuff on court, as the boys also got to “enjoy social activities”.
Angus Armstrong – a 13-year-old referee – also travelled to Albury after he received a referee scholarship from Basketball NSW.
“The boys are now looking forward to the 2012 representative season, where Bay Breakers teams are already starting preparations for the Southern Waratah League,” Bay Basketball spokeswoman Kylie Armstrong said.
Meanwhile, Bay Basketball will hold a short competition over the summer holidays on Tuesdays for junior players.
The competition starts on December 13 and anybody interested in playing should call Kylie on 4471 7789 or 0488 979 943.
